School-Based Counseling

School-Based Family Counseling (SBFC) is an integrated approach to mental health intervention that focuses on both school and family in order to help children overcome personal problems and succeed at school.

SBFC staff share in the common belief that children who are struggling in school can be best helped by interventions that link family and school.  Parent, guardians and family members can be partners with the SBFC staff member.

Some of the issues SBFC helps address are:  bullying and cyber-bullying, depression, school violence, grief and loss, trauma, life-threatening illness, school crises, learning disorders, immigrant families, suicide and school suspension.
