School-Based Counseling
School-Based Counseling
School-Based Family Counseling (SBFC) is an integrated approach to mental health intervention that focuses on both school and family in order to help children overcome personal problems and succeed at school.
SBFC staff share in the common belief that children who are struggling in school can be best helped by interventions that link family and school. Parent, guardians and family members can be partners with the SBFC staff member.
Some of the issues SBFC helps address are: bullying and cyber-bullying, depression, school violence, grief and loss, trauma, life-threatening illness, school crises, learning disorders, immigrant families, suicide and school suspension.

When we start with strengths, we end up stronger.
In response to feedback received on the LCAP requesting more social-emotional supports be offered to our learning community, Dry Creek is proud to debut Aperture, a new tool to help support students' social-emotional learning (S.E.L.). Aperture uses a strengths based assessment system that supports teachers in identifying students who may need additional instruction in S.E.L. areas to ensure that all students have the necessary social and emotional skills to be successful, productive, and happy.
Students are assessed on the below S.E.L. competency areas. If identified as benefiting from additional lessons, students may participate in specialized, whole classroom lessons, small group instruction, or offered additional supports.
Competency areas include: self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship skills, goal-directed behavior, personal responsibility, decision-making, and optimistic thinking.
